My artwork tends to take a critical view of social, political & cultural issues from my perspective as the daughter of a southern Indigenous father and an immigrant Mexican mother. In my photographic art , I prefer to use black and white photography. In painting and mixed media, I prefer to use colors. I enjoy alternative photo processes such as cyanotypes. Artists whose works inspire my work are Caravaggio and Van Gogh.

"Cause of Death: Doll"

After watching a documentary on The Black Dahlia murder, I took this portrait of my cousin and her creepy doll. The world is so dangerous, even when compared to the time of that crime. With human trafficking being a constant in everyday life, safety has become a luxury. It's even dangerous to help children. While stories of murders such as The Black Dahlia caused outrage back in those days, it's become the status quo these days. Also, that doll is super creepy. how could I not take a photo of it?
