The artistic studio practice of American artist Anna Lyle (b. 1992, Birmingham, Alabama) lives in the realm of realism in conjunction with abstraction through mark-making. Anna received her Bachelor of Architecture from Mississippi State University in 2015 and her Master of Fine Arts from Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2023.

Lyle’s work is known for a structured and narrative aesthetic grounded in traditional and representational painting and drawing. Through her painting and two-dimensional mixed media work, Anna explores the physical, psychological, and social context of her body, how she and others perceive her body, and, eventually, how she perceives others in their perceptions of her. This thought process is rooted in larger external systems, such as sexism and hyper-religiosity, and how they affect our perceptions of our bodies.

Lyle has exhibited work in galleries all across the United States with works in private collections in the United States, Canada, and Germany.
