Reginald Rousseau is a Haitian-born craft-based artist, based in New York. He has studied Studio Arts at the City College of New York while pursuing an Architectural Design degree. He has been actively creating, exhibiting and selling his works since 2010. Today, is know for his elaborate figurative - abstract - expressionist contemporary folkloric paintings, mixed-media assemblages and illustrations focusing in leveling-up “People of Color” representations. His works which can be described as a radical fusion of Haitian Naive Art, African Artifacts & Textiles, Stained Glass, Urban Art and Modern Abstraction are aesthetically innovative, socially & culturally engaged and spiritually driven. In addition, he has founded and operated the Underground Gallery + Studio, an alternative art space from 2018-2022. To date, Reginald has received several awards/grants including 2022, ARTWorks Resident Fellowship at the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning.
