I am a situational artist responding to what I see and hear whether at personal, local or national level. I have made work inspired by Covid, Harry and Megan’s departure to America and Just Stop Oil protests, to name a few.
My work twists between 2D and 3D, with a strong element of theatre or at least static performance, leading to work in many mediums. My working life has been in construction, translating 2D designs into 3D reality, so perhaps this is inevitable. After many years as a building surveyor usually dealing with clearly defined technical and measurable issues answered by equally measurable answers or solutions, it’s fun to be released to grapple with the ambiguous, emotional and even unanswerable issues of life through my art.
I am currently focusing on my own recent life journey using the mediums of painting and writing. Whilst I commonly explore my own history, the more I know of art history the more I find myself consciously and subconsciously referencing other works and other artists.
I completed a Post Grad at Chelsea College of Arts UAL as a mature student to add to my BSc in Building Economics and an MSc in Construction Management. I have worked for several of the most respected world-wide surveying practices. My time at Chelsea has helped me articulate my ideas better, build my profile and pedigree whilst introducing me to a more eclectic diverse group of artists. I am currently concentrating on painting and building a body of work.
