My name is Nainika Sharma and I have completed my graduation in Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Sculpture and pursuing Masters’ in fine art from Government College of Art , Chandigarh . I’m from small town Ganaur , Sonipat, Haryana.
The Introduction to Sculpture was one such thing where it has opened many gates and perseverance was inevitable , towards better understanding of Art . During my bachelor’s degree I have focused my work on Life Study as well as on Creative Compositions . However being a Sculpture student , my style is not rigid. I like to explore as many mediums as possible. My creative skills includes a variety of realistic and creative compositions . I have always have been excited towards my works , I have try to approach my work with different subject matters and in different materials too. In my graduation I have done life studies and portraits which helped me to understand the realistic approach of art . Throughout my graduation , I came to know that my interest is developing towards the creative compositions.
I have created a series work on Bird form . I have used different subject matters in this series i.e. Mother and Child , Human in Bird form , Family . And I have used different materials too in these series i.e. Stone ,Plaster of Paris, terracotta .
Birds have always inspired me to create new and excited forms . Their beauty and their freedom have inspired me a lot . Birds feed and foster my creativity and gives me the moment of pure joy . And joy can awaken creativity. Birds are free. The soar high above us effortlessly . With a little imagination I can soar with them in my mind and for a few moments , see the world from different perspective .
Throughout my graduation , I have learnt how to break a realistic forms and convert them into geometric forms . I started evolving with time and development of my own style . My artworks have variety in them , many of them are organic forms as well as geometric forms. I have done some of my sculptures in mix media i.e. stone + metal , fiberglass + wood dust . Working in mix media , gave me more chances to experiment with different mediums and allows me to think out the box.
In my post graduation period I have worked on the theme States of human mind and my basic material was Stone.
