«Art is my diary, made up of my experiences, relationships, and energy. »

Kristaps Priede is an award-winning painter and sculptor based in Latvia whose works have been exhibited nationally, in China, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Through his artistic practice, he explores the central themes of human spiritual freedom and faith. In addition, Priede is fascinated by the history of specific places, as well as life stories, events, and architecture. He most often creates with acrylics and oils on canvas.

Glitsky (Eng. Polar stratospheric cloud), 2021. The abstract form of the works expresses the individual's search for conflicting areas of mind and feelings.

Quote
Firstly, Kristaps Priede mainly uses dark tones, especially purple as an absolute value. Secondly, there is his minimalist expression. He abandons the superfluous and excels the essence of the content and form. Priede’s works are perceived as signs of mundane issues, valuable content, and spirituality. - Professor Ivars Heinrihsons, Art Academy of Latvia

While studying at the Art Academy of Latvia, where he was a master's student of the Department of Sculpture, Kristaps Priede showed a genuine interest in the problem of preserving and protecting cultural heritage through the prism of vandalism in contemporary art. His research on this topic is one of the most outstanding master's thesis of the Art Academy of Latvia in recent years. - Professor Gļebs Panteļejevs, Head of the Department of Sculpture, Art Academy of Latvia
