We are a Russian artist duo with USA citizenship temporarily staying in Italy while waiting for Berlin Artist Visa. At the beginning of 2022, we had to leave our home in Moscow.

As a MishMash artist duo, we’ve been working together in Moscow and New York since 2000. We have accomplished numerous contemporary art projects, exhibitions, and public art installations. In 2004, we  received an Award at New Jersey State 9/11 Memorial Competition. In 2019, we were named Artists of the Year in Russia by Cosmoscow Art Fair.

In favor of an artwork, we analyze the site, the area, and the surroundings in pursuit of the genius loci. We often involve the uncontrollable natural forces present on-site and local public participation – wind, water, aging, mold, or collaboration with the spectators. In our works, we test the Universe on the relationship between Chaos and Order and the fragile border between Beauty and Ugliness. Our projects involve actions, installations, paintings, and sculptures, but we always pay strong attention to the public-oriented and public-involving processes that are being activated by the artwork. Our artistic means span from drying bread slices forming a tower as bricks or the mesmerizing sound of a several hundred pipes wind organ on the shore of the Hudson River.

Days of suspension

One stone = one time unit. Since we are hanging in the air waiting for our documents to lend in a new country, we draw one stone a day, marking them with a date stamp. The stones doesn't have any background, so they have to hang somehow.
