Daria Pietryka (1983) / Visual artist, architect and scenographer. She is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, The School of Architecture at University College Dublin and Wrocław University of Science & Technology, Faculty of Architecture. She operates on the perimeter of visual arts and architecture.


She observes relations between ecosystem created by humans and things that are uncontrollable, wild, and out of human impact. Through her works she also studies human relations in micro and macro scale, as well as how gradually, through the times a role of women in a tissue of society changes.


Since 2014 she has been running her own studio MIEJSCA (Places). She has also worked as an exhibition set designer with Wrocław European Capital of Culture 2016, OP ENHEIM and Studio BWA in the city of Wrocław. Her individual exhibitions have been shown inter alia at the Gallery of Art in Legnica, MOS in Gorzów Wlkp, Galeria M and CK Agora in Wrocław, The Mill Theatre Dublin. She has also taken part in numerous group shows, including Gallery BWA in Rzeszów, Gallery Test in Warsaw, Art Fair 2013' Wrocław, D-light Studios Dublin, Waterfront Belfast, BWA Awangarda Wrocław.


She lives and works in Wrocław, Poland.

ONI, oil on canvas, 140x180cm.   The word 'oni' can be understood in two ways. The Polish word 'oni' is a reference to strangers or aliens, but in Japanese folklore, an oni is a demon or evil spirit. Known for their ruthlessness and spread of terror, they are associated with disease, plague and misfortune.
