My name is Anna Makarewicz-Urbaniak and I make contemporary, handcrafted, hand painted, one of a kind ceramic pieces.

I’m the creator and creative hands behind the Kalt_Nelke_Ceramics, a project that has been existing for over three years now.

My interest in ceramic has been going for years and it started with "collecting", purchasing functional and decorative vessels different kinds.

I produce both practical and decorative ceramic ware influenced by passion for the classic foam while it is strongly rooted in contemporary design where my inspirations come from but not only.

I am looking for the human element in my work which is essential for creating the individual character.  Any sort of human mark or imperfection is valuable to me.

I like to use the potential and versatility of clay, emphasising the raw, groggy surface texture and unique colour as often as possible.

I don't want my pieces to be sterile, industry look, with no difference.

My pottery reflects my hands abilities and my intentions.

I play with the pattern and colours while paying attention to detail. All meters, form, proportions, colour combinations, texture, the kind of clay I use, etc.

The craft itself is equally important, apart from its creative side, it is tedious, complex and never-ending learning.

The fascinating process of creation and constant noticeable progress are what pushes my practice forward, motivates me and don’t stop me to go beyond my own limitations.
