Hi! I'm Alexis Cuff and I am a painter and textile artist that currently lives in Redford, MI with my husband and two daughters. In the very beginning, I showed an interest in the world of artistry as a child, but shortly after graduating high school in Ferguson, MO I spent the next 5 years in the United States Air Force as an administrative assistant and IT support. After I retired from the Air Force in 2008 and settled with my husband in Detroit, who is a Detroit native, I decided to go to school for business management to prepare myself for running my own business.
My first business was as a freelance makeup artist. After two years, I decided to let it go and focus my attention on taking care of my growing family. I knew that someday I would give entrepreneurship another try. While waiting for that day to come, I went back to work as a legal assistant. August 2020, I launched my new business as a fashion reseller and upcycler with (Un)Popular Fashion Society. I share with my audience various style tips, how to shop sustainably and upcycling clothes and accessories. This led me to discovering that through upcycling clothes and accessories that becoming an artist was what I was meant to be.
I have a passion for both fashion and art, but truly enjoy the idea of making prints and painting more while using different mixed medias, such as fabric, embroidery, and paint. January 2022, I decided to start my new career as an artist and have officially launched my business March 2022 as Alex B Artistry.
