For me, life can only be described as a perpetual waking dream. I recognize it in the surrealist painters of the 20th century as well as in the religious intensity depicted by the artists of the European Renaissance period. It is visual story telling that tries to make sense of who we are, why we are here, and what happens to us when we are gone.
What is spirituality? It is what human beings have created to process their anxieties, because reality is joyous, painful, and terrifying.
What is Surrealism? It is what artists must do to process their anxieties, because for them reality doesn’t exist.
