Biography

Tomàs Morell artistic work develops around painting and visual arts. He is been doing art for more than 35 years, working with painting, illustration, graphic design and advertising. Since 2008 he dedicates himself exclusively to drawing and painting.

He graduated in Fine Arts at the "Kunst Akademie" in Nuremberg (Germany) in 1990. Afterwards he studied graphic design and communication at the "Escola Massana", Barcelona, Spain, where he graduated in 1994.

In his recent work he is interested in exploring ideas related to the identity of women and femininity, using contemporary stereotypical imagery, interwoven with memories and personal experiences. The invented scenes are humorous as they allude to the debate surrounding gender identity, and while emphasizing irony in order to approach the human condition, the paintings are testimonies of a deep admiration and love for the feminine.
