I looked for an interesting and very personal path, from an iconographic point of view. From the first works, which were essentially figurative, I arrived at that dynamic conception typical of futurism in which everything merges and subdivides, interpenetrates with other parts, is transformed into simultaneous visions composed of surreal particles. While not renouncing figuration, I use the fragment to make the whole, the detail - endowed with a life of its own - intertwines with other independent details, image within image, idea within idea. In his latest works, the colours also become brighter, more decisive and more detailed, marking the dividing line, without second thoughts, between one figure and another, between one subject and another, between one symbol and another. Yes, because it is 'symbolism' that is my ultimate signature, used to propose strong themes, but proposed to the viewer through a formal and colouristic lightness. To explain it in Klee's words, my works remind us that man is half prisoner and half winged.

Biography

Nestor Ferronato is a painter born on August 16th, 1955 in Argentina. Since childhood, he has shown a strong interest in drawing and art, a passion he has continued to cultivate during his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rosario.

In 1984, he decided to move to Italy to continue his career, starting as an advertiser to make a living and working his way up to becoming the Creative Director of his own agency.

In 1986, he married Sonia Zucconi and together they had two children. Despite his demanding work life, Ferronato never stopped painting and drawing, experimenting with different materials and new techniques. He has painted with shoe polish, creating religious works, has used plant extracts for watercolor-style works, and has explored drawing with pens, examples of which can be seen on the artist's Instagram account. Lastly, he returned to using oil on canvas and has ventured into digital art.

Ferronato has participated in various exhibitions, including a group show in 2008 at the Eustachi Gallery in Milan, where he won the Critics' Prize in 2011. He had a solo exhibition promoted by Assicurazioni Generali in Milan in 2015 and a solo exhibition dedicated to watches in Paris in 2018.

His painting is characterized by a strong influence of symbolic "pieces" and a strong emphasis on color and light. Ferronato's work has evolved over the years, passing through different stylistic phases, but always maintaining a strong thematic consistency. In his works, he explores aspects of daily life, tradition, and culture.

For a long time, Ferronato used the inspiration of the movements of high-end mechanical watches as a theme for his paintings, then returned to symbolic expressions. From his early, mostly figurative works, he comes to that dynamic conception typical of futurism in which everything is fused and divided, interpenetrates with other parts, transforms into simultaneous visions, composed of surreal particles.

Without giving up the figure, the Italian-Argentinian artist Nestor Ferronato uses the fragment to do everything, the detail - with its own life - interweaves with other independent details: an image within an image, idea within an idea.

In his recent works, even the colors become more vivid, more decisive, and more detailed, marking the demarcation line, without hesitation, between one figure and the other, between one subject and the other, between one symbol and the other.

Yes, because "symbolism" is the last figure of this painter, used to propose strong themes, but offered to the viewer through a formal and chromatic lightness. In this way, Ferronato has painted dreams, situations, made portraits that not only represent the subjects but also tell their stories. He has discovered a world made of stairs, doors, arches, windows, trees, flowers, animals, people, ... that has allowed him to look at different moods and social issues such as water waste, poor environmental policies, non-inclusive mass immigration phenomena. His work is characterized by a mix of fantasy and symbolism with always a present meaning, not being an abstract painter. His reference painters are Boccioni, Magritte, Chagall, Max Ernst. Ferronato is inspired by their use of symbols and color to create his unique works of art. To explain it with the words of Paul Klee, Ferronato's works remind us that man is half prisoner and half winged.
