Katja Vartiainen was born in London, UK, to Finnish parents, and grew up in Helsinki, Finland, in a international school, which was wonderfully multicultural. She spent time in Prague in the 1990's, a summer, in New York, and traveled Europe and further as a student, and otherwise. She graduated from Turku school of Arts and Media in 2000 with a BA, specialized in pedagogy of fine arts, and continued after a few years to Marseille, Academy of Fine arts(FR), and graduated with MFA(DNSEP).
She paints with watercolors since 2017, heavily inspires by nature. Vartiainen has had private and group exhibitions, and is a member of the Finnish Painters Union with work in collection Vacance Bleu, FR. Currently she resides with her video making husband in Bayern, DE.
