I am an LA-based photographer and mixed media artist whose work focuses heavily on the effects of time and people on an environment. I enjoy combining mediums to create dynamic, immersive viewer experiences, often leaving open-ended questions embedded in my pieces for the audience to explore. I hope to advocate for the importance of preserving and caring for one's surroundings, both natural and constructed, and document that stories that I find in the world around me.

Biography
Born in raised in San Diego, California, Valerie Jackson lived her childhood primarily outside. Inspired by her photographer mother, she learned to see the world through a curious and wonderful lens from a young age, often drawing or painting on any surface available. After straying from her creativity to start a degree in science at the University of California, Santa Cruz, she realized the deep passion to understand the world around her was not one of scientific inquiry, but one of artistic endeavor. After deciding to ultimately study Fine Art Photography, she earned the most prestigious award for an art student in her senior year, the Irwin Scholarship for the Arts. She has gone on to create film, animation, photography, and prints that ask questions about personal and collective memory, evidence of experience, and permanence of self.
