Born in Quetta, Pakistan, Fine Arts Graduate from BUITEMS, Quetta and currently conducting MFA in Fine Arts from Kingston School of Arts, London.

My artistic practice canters around Islamic geometric patterns, exploring themes of spirituality, cultural identity, and trauma. As a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, I have been deeply influenced by the history of my community's persecution and the traumatic events that have shaped our collective identity.

Through my work, I aim to create a dialogue between the traditional Islamic art forms and contemporary art practices, highlighting the continued relevance and beauty of Islamic geometric patterns in a global context. My work is deeply personal. I draw, Sculpt and Paint from my experiences and emotions to create pieces that are emotionally resonant.

Fragments of Faith is a paper installation, which is inspired from the “Muqarna” 3d patterns use in domes. I have tried to distort the seamless formation of muqarnas into a stalactite formation. This represents the condition of AHMADI community in Pakistan which is being targeted by the goons by distorting the holy teaching of Islam to harm innocent people.

Biography

My artistic focus revolves around Islamic geometric patterns, allowing me to delve into themes of spirituality, cultural identity, and the enduring impact of trauma. Being a part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community has profoundly shaped my perspective, influenced by our history of persecution and the profound events that have collectively defined our identity.

Through my artistic creations, I endeavor to establish a meaningful conversation between traditional Islamic art forms and contemporary artistic practices. This serves to underscore the ongoing significance and beauty of Islamic geometric patterns within a global framework. My creative process is intensely personal, drawing from my own experiences and emotions. I express these through drawing, sculpting, and painting to craft pieces that evoke powerful emotional connections.

Hailing from a minority group in Pakistan, specifically the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, I confront challenges in self-expression due to the constraints of section 298 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Seeking refuge in the UK for my MFA in Fine Arts, I learned to channel my expressions through subtle language. This led me to develop a unique approach to narrating stories and conveying allegories via the language of geometric visuals, across various mediums including drawing, sculpture, and installation.
