Coyle’s first education in art in the 1990’s included an introduction to 1950’s Pop Art. Her paintings represent interests primary and secondary line work with ideas in abstraction, minimalism and negative space.
Artwork has appeared in and on the cover of many publications including The Times (UK), Mayfair Times (UK) Avari art (USA) Al-Tiba9 Magazine (Spain) and Visions Libres (Germany) Emergo (Netherlands) Litro (UK) and Kapa magazine (Greece).
Early in her career, after a short stay in NYC in 2003 she returned to Dublin Ireland. Before moving to London in 2006 she was described as ‘one of the city's most promising new artists’ {Metro Life newspaper- January 2006}, and a ‘rising young artist’ {Irish Independent- May 2006}.
In 2014 her work was selected by Los Angeles curator Bridget Carron for ‘Power Pop’ on Saatchi’ online gallery. In 2018 she won the Artness Magazine front cover and ‘Artist of the Year 2019; Honorable Mention Award’ from Circle Foundation (France).
In 2019 Coyle won a Special Artist Award from London's BESTART.
In 2020 Coyle chose to paint mixed white backgrounds in certain pieces within the Linda and Binary series, mixing colours is very important to each piece. The work earned an online review in 2020 from Dab Art Co. in Los Angeles and an inclusion in the current Artsy show. Also in 2021, a Distinguished Award from Canada’s ArtAscent magazine and a Finalist Award from Los Angeles’ Art Show International.
The current Sw16 painting series is planned for the next 3-5 years. Coyle also works in woodblock print, 120mm photography and collage.
Coyle also continually works on an abstract painting project, ‘50 year project’; to question and theorise the practice of abstract painting. Awards include Special Recognition and an Award for Excellence from Florida’s LightSpaceTime, an Honorable Mention Award’s from New Jersey’s J.Mane Gallery, NYC’s Grey Cube Gallery, Art Room Gallery and Gallery Ring in Canada.
