Born and raised in New York City, Tierce studied at Pratt Institute and École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Tierce's education and artistic practice  have taken her through various mediums in drawing and painting. Her artwork often features intricate, dreamlike scenes that invite viewers to delve into the subconscious.

Tierce is the author of "Pulling Weeds from a Cactus Garden," a collection of her mixed media works accompanied by her short prose. Jessica McCort of the Los Angeles Review of Books, writes, “Readers of Pulling Weeds from a Cactus Garden will also likely find deep enjoyment in parsing out and piecing together Tierce’s complex fairy-tale allusions.”

In her work as a visual storyteller, she uses cartoon and symbolic imagery to convey psychological struggles in her imagery.

Tierce says about her paintings, “in these visual allegories, I want to give form to the ridiculous unspoken tensions in society and make them more manageable, even laughable for the viewer”.

Nathalie Tierce is an artist known for her evocative and multi-layered works that explore themes of human connection, fables and myth.
