I am an abstract artist with a passion to explore techniques and ideas. As a former high school math teacher, I approach creating art as problem solving. I alternate between painting and drawing, enjoying how these overlap and intersect. It may play off of something phylalike a figure or a structure, or completely flow freely in the midst of making marks. I play with the negative spaces and search for the quiet and safe intervals between shapes. For me, my artwork is a puzzle, an ambiguous equation or story that takes on a life of its own with each layer, mark, or erasure. It is addition and subtraction, just another equation to solve.
