Biography
Coco Daub is a contemporary female artist based in Germany. She creates large-scale installations with pop paintings. Daub is drawing inspiration from the "Superflat" movement I have developed a unique artistic style. Born in 1968 in Saarlouis into a family engaged in business. Her father had a strong interest in culture but the notion of a daughter creating art posed difficulties. His rejection of Coco's choice didn't stop her pursuing art. She received a young artist award for my first exhibition, Visionen zum Kulturgut Brot at Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf in 2001. Her most recent exhibition was Form 2025 at the CICA Museum in Korea.
Long before her art journey started right after architectural design school in Düsseldorf. In 2002, she left Kunstakademie Düsseldorf for Goldsmith College of Art in search of a deeper art concept. Her early work after Goldsmiths was chosen by Saatchi as one of the Top 10 artists. In 2015, she had my first solo exhibition at Museum Haus Ludwig Saarlouis, where she showcased a portable, mobile, removable and adjustable graffiti for the first time. Her personal concept of urban art installation has been born at Goldsmiths combining a floor painting with a robotic element. Since then she has taken part in several international group exhibitions, one art fair, and one biennial: IX - international painting Biennale. The most group exhibitions been in United Kingdom & Germany, South Korea, Turkey, Spain and Switzerland.
For her ART IS A PARASITE: it uses the brain of the observer as host. Daub creates a hybrid artwork that could be transfer into another timezone. She purposely realize a counterpoint reality to the dark, earthy, and deep ART CLICHES found everywhere: her work is audaciously fresh aiming to provoke. It is simply different & brave. Her installations are equal to a moment of hypnotization. Daub's overall goal is the capture the viewers brain.
Her installation work describes the influence of barbie & Walt Disney on our identity. Works shown at Museum Haus Ludwig portray a paradisiacal scene where the horror is soon to be unfold. It is named "Barbiepuppen-Terror".
