Hi, I’m Aprajita Lal, an award-winning, self-taught artist based in New Jersey, creating art that brings happiness.
Born and raised in India, I was surrounded by stories, traditions, and the raw beauty of nature. Encouraged by my mother, I started painting early and won my first national art competition as a child. But like many, I chose a conventional path and pursued a corporate career. Art remained a quiet passion—until it became my full-time purpose.
After moving to the U.S. in 2018 and leaving the corporate world in 2020, I transitioned fully into the life of a professional artist. With no formal training, industry mentors, or connections, I built my practice from the ground up—driven purely by passion, persistence, and a deep desire to spread joy through my work.
My art is inspired by nature—glimmering waterscapes, dreamy forests, florals, and moods of light that reflect hope, resilience, and emotional healing. Today, my work is exhibited internationally through Park West Gallery, and I’m a proud member of the historic Salmagundi Club in New York City. I’ve been honored as the Contemporary Artist of the Year and continue to showcase at leading fairs including ArtExpo NYC, Affordable Art Fair, and Art Basel Miami.
Giving back is integral to my journey. I regularly donate artworks for charitable causes, volunteer at senior centers, and teach art to children with special needs—using creativity as a tool for joy, confidence, and connection.
Through every brushstroke, I hope to spark awe, peace, and a renewed appreciation for the natural world. If my art makes you pause, breathe, and smile—you’ve just experienced what I aim to share.
